Time Management & Organization: 3 Apps that Help
One of the most important ways to help get ready for taxes this year is to work on your time management and organization skills. Many people still use pencil and paper planners and organizers and find the approach works well. However, these days it’s possible to use apps that sync to your phone and computer that help you get organized and manage your time.
If you’d like to make technology your personal organizer, we recommend the following apps:
- Google Calendar. Google’s technology remains the gold standard in many ways, and their calendar is no exception. Previously, the calendar only existed on computers, but now you can easily and quickly bring it up using their app. It’s easy to create and color code your own calendar, as well as share and receive calendars for other key people or groups. You can control privacy when sharing your calendar, showing the full event to others, only that you’re busy, or hide the event entirely. You can also make a private to-do list.
- Wunderlist. This free app does the one thing Google Calendar doesn’t: it creates a syncable, sharable, to-do list. Use Wunderlist’s provided categories, such as groceries, for lists, or make your own. It’s easy to assign tasks and a deadline to all connected users, and set a reminder on your computer and phone that tells you when a task is almost due.
- Evernote. Need to organize your life? Evernote is the perfect app for personal and business needs. Also usable on the phone and computer, this app lets you take notes and scan in any kinds of notes and papers you want to keep organized. This is a perfect place to collect all the business cards you’ve gotten at networking events, or to collect all your tax receipts.
